Hi, all my mom gave me her laptop and asked me if I could help her fix an issue on her Windows 7 laptop with playing DVD's on Windows Media Player, I looked on Windows Explorer and its not even reading the DVD's, I have tried just about everything to fix this issue, I tried resetting the laptop back to factory settings and it still did nothing, I am beginning to think that the CD/DVD drive might need replaced, anybody have any advice, please and thanks in advance

Hi spellmas1995, welcome to Seven Forum,

It does sound like the CD/DVD drive might need replacing, especially if you have already reset the OS back to factory settings because that should install/load the necessary CD/DVD drivers automatically.
Before you replace the CD/DVD drive though, do you have [or know someone who does] an external CD/DVD drive that you could try first?

I hope this helps!

I think the problem is your CD/DVD drive itself. You didn't mention how old the laptop is, so I can't give you some accurate prediction. I will just add that CD/DVD drives are getting broken faster than any other component of the machine. It's not really that the CD/DVD drive isn't working, but maybe the lens need cleaning. Most of the times that's why CD/DVD drives doesn't read discs.
