My PC has given me random restarts the past couple weeks. It'll be at anytime no matter if I'm just browsing the web or playing a game. It happened again yesterday but this time when it booted it gave me the message "Power Supply detected a power surge". It was the only time I've seen that message though. Does anyone have any steps I can take to try and figure this out? My build is current.

MCleveland, I would suspect the PSU, how old is it? Are you monitoring temps and voltage? If you are overclocking, try taking it down some.

I bought the power supply in May 2012. While just web browsing, my CPU temps are anywhere from 37C-45C and my GPU is about 30C. They get hotter while I game of course, but the restarts happen at anytime. My voltage for my CPU are 0.996, and 0.850 for my GPU. And no overclocking for me. Too worried about things getting too hot. :)

I tried a google search and saw where some say you should disable the surge setting in the Bios. I would not do that. Do you have another power supply you could try?

We have several other members that have that motherboard. Wait out a little while and they should be able to offer help. That is a very nice build you have!

What are the voltage readings under load? Also try looking for errors in the event viewer for when it restarted.

You have a good PSU and the ASUS is well known for it's problem with ASUS anti surge. Most ASUS users well tell you to disable it.

So you're saying the motherboard could be restarting the computer, even though it doesn't need to? Also, I just remembered I updated my BIOS kinda recently although I can't remember if this started before or after that.
