PC Shutdown without bluescreen, possibly issue: atikmpag and ntoskrnl

Hi All,

I'm trying to help my co-worker on another city troubleshoot an issue with his computer. His computer would randomly shut down several times a week. It even shut down when he is not even using it.

I looked in the event viewer and found the error when it crashed is Kernel-Power 41 and Bugcheck 1001.


I got him to email me the dump. With my limited knowledge regarding the dump files, I found two issues: VIdeo_TDR_Failure (116) with atikmag and WIN7_DRIVER_FAULT with ntoskrnl.exe. I attached the dump files. Please help.

Meanwhile, I will asked him to updat the video driver.

Hello there!

It believe it's his GPU card that's causing the crashes. Follow this article http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-lo...op-0x116-video_tdr_error-troubleshooting.html and run the mentions tests. Then the other thing that may be causing the problem is scmndisp.sys is a driver that is associated with a Netgear wireless adapter. I would recommend to download and update the drivers for Netgear Wireless Router.
