Pc/T.v Resolution problem (VGA)

Hi guys plugged vga lead into laptop n tv...right clicked and switched to "display on 2" after i upped the resolution and applied. Tv went blank and said "unsuporrted resolution" at that point both screens were blank. I pulled the lead and laptop came back on....but i cant change the resolution back down on the tv without plugging it in but of course it goes blank on tv...but displays for about 2 seconds then back to blank im mega confused please help...

Welcome to Seven Forums.
Turn off your TV & unplug it from the wall, wait a few minutes & reconnect it & turn it on.

You could try resetting your TV to factory defaults. Refer to you TV handbook if you have one. Operate your TV without having it connected to your computer & have the antenna lead connected. Use the menu on the TV using the remote control to find settings.

Hi..its not a problem on the tv its the resolution settings for screen 2 on the pc i cant change the resolution setting for screen 2 (tv) when unplugged. The setting only comes up when plugged in.. but i cant see it..

Hi bennyl1708 and welcome to Seven Forums.
The problem with using VGA on a TV is most if not all TV's have a low resolution input such as 1024 x 768. The laptop probably sent something the TV did not understand and has messed up the settings. If you have an HDMI input youacould try that. You should have Function Keys and pictures of monitors on certain keys on the Laptop, try pressing those with the laptop connected to the TV to cycle through modes
