pc to tv connection-Correct? How to hook up-HDMI or VGA?

vizio tv has "rgb pc" connector as well as an audio port. I am told to hook rgb(VGA) cable from acer pc directly to the rgb port on tv. In addition, I am told to hook up a stero mini jack cable to the audio port. My question is whether this is the way it should be done. Why does the tv have 2 HDMI jacks if you aren't going to use them?
Wouldn't the HDMI connection be much clearer? Confused. Thanks in advance.

yes, is much easier to use the hdmi cable and get both video and audio from one cable. When connected, right clik on the speaker in system tray of taskbar and select playback devices to set the audio.

Usually your graphics card is where the HDMI output will be, if your GPU (graphics card) is incapable of taking the sound output from your motherboard or soundcard, you can't get the sound through the HDMI cable.. That said, if your GPU can do this, HDMI is the far easier and far higher quality way to go about it.

Vizio(tv) giving correct directions? No HDMI?

If HDMI connection is superior to RGB(VGA) why would Vizio (with 2 HDMI connections) tell u to use VGA? Is it going to be possiible to use a cable that would be RGB at one end and HDMI on the other)? As far as I am concerned, knowing nothing about this problem, I would do the latter. But is this going to work?

Believe it or not, I also looked into an HDMI --> RGB crossover cable, and they do exist, but I think if your PC has HDMI and your screen has HDMI input, why waste the time and money? The crossover cable is expensive, HDMI is easier as with RGB(VGA) you'll end up spending 30 mins setting up a resolution that usually won't fit perfectly.

Either way, using VGA to the screen and then a separate sound jack, or HDMI, if your graphics card cannot output the sound through HDMI then you'll still need that separate sound jack anyway. So it's simply easier to use HDMI so you don't have to mess about with the resolution on the screen.
