Solved PC tower PSU top or bottom?

I have a Xigamatek CPC-T45UB-U01 Asgard Chassis tower where the PSU is a top mount.

Does it make a big difference when the PSU is mounted at the top or bottom?.

I really need to know as i have just purchased a new mb, i was also thinking of purchasing a case with a bottom mount for a psu.

I need to hear some info before i make my mind up.

As always, i appreciated the advice.

I can always mod the the case, adding a new hole on the top in the centre for a fan.

Having a bottom mounted psu is only good if you can mount it fan down (most modern cases have a hole and dust filter at the bottom)

If you mount it fan up its going to be sucking all the hot air from your GPU(s) making it warmer lol

The trend in the last few years is toward bottom mount, but I certainly would NOT buy a new case just for that. Top and bottom mount both have advantages.

If you like your case, stick with it.

It doesn't matter, as long as the intake fans aren't blocked, and the exhaust is vented directly out of the case.

There are pros and cons both ways. I prefer a bottom mounted PSU, as heat rises and can be sucked out by the top fans.

IMO it doesn't matter - top or bottom - BUT the case has to be designed for it.

I would strongly advise against altering a top mounting designed case to put the PS in the bottom. You may be building an Easy-Bake oven!

My new box uses the bottom location for the PSU (in win BUC) It's on my desk.. if it had of had to go on the floor, I would have purchased a top mount

I have both kinds -- and the case with the bottom-mounted PSU has a partition above it, blocking the heat from escaping into the case. I also has a fan in the front bottom of the case, so that air comes in the front, passes through the PSU, and goes out the back.

So basically, if you buy a bottom-mount PSU case, ensure that the heat from the PSU doesn't exhaust into the body of the case.
