Solved PCIe Port Dead?

I have moved a couple cards around in my PC due to getting a new Network Card. My 3.0 USB Card has been moved to a x1 Port. The USB Card does not work though and am not sure if it worked before I moved it. Is there anything in my Device Manager that would let me know if a Port was not working like a Yellow Asterisk? I don't want to move any other cards to check if the USB Card works there, it is a Pain. I am about ready to buy a new 3.0 USB Card. Any help on deciding if the Port works is appreciated.

A Yellow Exclamation mark would be showing if Windows has detected a problem. Perhaps, then, there is no power to the USB adapter.

In that case, it would be worthwhile checking that it is firmly seated in its slot, and the 4-pin Molex connector is connected to a Molex power rail.

Now that I think about it, I got it from China and it did not come with a CD. I have not had anything plugged into it until recently. I guess it never has worked. :) Well I have ordered a new one and it is coming from the good ole USA. I assume it will have a Driver CD. Thanks,

I don't think that 7 has built in drivers for USB 3.

If you can't find the driver anywhere else, I have found that you may find it if you do a Windows update. Do a scan for Windows updates. Look in the optional updates, and if you see an update for this card, install only that one update. To save time, don't install any other updates, not even the "important" ones.

I hope you are right. A few years ago I purchased a USB3 card, and it came with a driver CD. But the problem was, there were four different drivers on the CD, and the instructions didn't say which driver to use. Rather than trying each driver one at a time, I solved it by searching on the card's VEN and DEV numbers at www.pcidatabase.com. Unfortunately that very useful site went dark a couple of years ago.
