WoW is also extremely boring. Anyways...

thats definitly just your opinion and not fact. Tell that to the 11+ million people around the world that still play the 8 year old game.

You can knock Vivindi/Blizzard all you want but the fact is, they have made a masterpiece of a game that will set the standards for MMO's for years to come.

Yeah, I know it's opinion. I just don't know what's so awesome about grinding all day and clicking once to move around or perform an entire attack on someone. Not only that. The menus for doing simple tasks make my head spin.

I'll go on record to state that my two Radeons will last longer than most of your (first) Xbox360's! How many of those have you all had to go thru yet?

I'm still on my original Aug 2006 model 360... It's probably only lasted this long since I don't use it ;)

However it did outlive one of my 4890's

I was reading an interesting article on Ars Technica about the Xbox 360 using DX9, and that it can't be upgraded. The article said that games can use pseudo-DX10 effects, but cannot be entirely upgraded

That is interesting, i wonder what the ps3 equivalant is, if its any better.

I think as far as graphics go, when consoles first come out they are usually state of the art machines. But because computer hardware and technology evolves so fast, they become "not so state of the art" fairly quik. And i read somewhere that microsoft plans to stick with the 360 till 2015!!! I hope thats not true as it would be badly outdated by that time.

No they can't. The GPU isn't fully DX10 compliant, hence the reason most non-exclusive PC titles are still primarily DX9 based.

That's one of the biggest reasons DX10 was a flop. There was no real monetary incentive for developers to code for DX10 when the majority of sales comes from consoles, not PC games.

By the time DX11 will be the console standard norm, DX12 will probably be making an appearance.

Exactly why i personally think computer gaming can offer a better gaming experience (with the right equipment). They are always one step ahead technology wise.

Amen, I hate this argument so much in so many ways, all in all, we should instantly know what we are all about to say anyways, if not, we are just in the paradoxical troll hell known as this argument.

I hate it so much because from what I'm hearing PC gaming is dying a little; and thus we should offer (as aforementioned in previous posts) solutions and advancements to problems.

I can admit to the fact that I used to pirate games and upload releases which doesn't really aid my standing (or my emotions about the topic), and the fact I spent most my gaming time alone due to everyone else having consoles. (Although I did spend alot of my time offline with no internet)

I also hate FPS on consoles with a passion, but unfortunately, I have a PS3 and I'm an avid fan of alot of Console only releases, so whatever...

The only thread worse than this is "PS3 vs XBOX360" (Which I hope I never see) and you can only talk about that topic about marketing terms.

The purpose of this thread is to argue and discuss our opinions on what we prefer for gaming PC or Console. how hard is it to figure that out.....

As far as the DX10 being a flop, maybe as far as sales goes, but eye candy wise thats so far from the truth...

yes, but they really dont have much of a choice, if the retail on a new 360 or ps3 right when they come out was any higher then it was, i dont think they would sell very many. In fact, sales numbers on the ps3 back this theory up as it is on the verge of being to costly the way it is. I know many people that said they want a ps3 but dont wanna fork out the cast for one. Computers are different because they are a lot more then just a gaming machine.

I actually enjoy these types of threads...not because we will reach a conclusion that is 100% accurate, but because people are free to chat and discuss the merits and offer differing viewpoints. I don't see this so much as an argument, but rather a fun technical debate. I don't really care if I am right or wrong, but I keep checking back to see what others think.

Yes, but can it run Crysis?

True, but i think he was pointing out that there are some PC games that consoles cant run because of hardware or some other restrictions. If that were to be true, Crysis (also known as the computer killer lol) would be a prime example. Kinda makes ya wonder why a popular shooter like crysis never did make it to console.

I am not really worried about having a powerhouse machine running the most up to date graphics card. I like functionality and comfort and not jumping through hoops to make it that way. I would much rather curl up on my couch and play on the TV. I have been a console gamer since the Atari and I don't see that changing.

Understandable

I personally like to upgrade and work on my PC almost as much as gaming itself. I am more the type to sit at my computer desk, throw my headset/mic on and go at it lol. Thats why these threads are interesting because everyone has there own preferences.
