Using Windows Live mail and when I receive an email with a pdf attachment it won't open.
It come up with the message (thes file does not have a program associated with it, blah blah.
I have Adobe reader installed, tried reinstalling it with the same results.
It does however open if you save it to Documents and then open it.

I have looked in Default Programs but not sure what to do?

Hi aussiefly,

Firstly lets rule out the versions - Have you installed the latest version of Adobe reader. The file may have been created in a more modern version.

Secondly, it's likely that the pdf file association is damaged. So lets fix it. I've extracted the registry settings from my installation for you. Just double click on the attached file to rewrite the pdf registry entries.

Lastly, if it still doesn't work. Some other solutions offered for Vista are here and here. I see no reason why they wouldn't work in Windows 7.

Good luck.

-Timo
