...it (the Adobe Logo) sits in the task bar until I click on it to open the file to full screen. Is there a way to make a PDF file open to full screen on top of what I have open on the desk top as soon as I click a link or file...?

Thanks,
unclepine

Check the Preferences

I don't use Adobe.

Many programs have an option, "Start Minimised".

Try checking the "Options" or "Preferences" (I don't know which menu that is in, in Adobe products).
Look for an option like "Start Fullscreen" or "Start Minimised".

Aahhh rats...!!!

Hey Mr. lehnerus, sorry to say it's still not fixed...!! I get full screen, but the PDF file will not open up right away and go full screen...?!? The opened PDF sits in the task bar as a Adobe logo. I used to be able to click on a Adobe PDF file and it would open up right in front of me on the screen...? As it is now, I have to click the logo in the task bar to get to pdf to open full screen...!!??

Hope you can help tho I know you say you don't use Adobe, PDF files are a pretty common format in this neck o the woods...! ;-)

Cheers, Laurie:confused:

They are in most places but many people use either a browser or a viewer to open PDF files. My personal choice is Irfanview!
But to get the full screen in Adobe. Open your PDF file then click "View" then click "Read More". that will show in max full screen. Close the Prog by clicking the "x" then try opening again. It should go straight to the same view.

I don't think I'm coming across properly...!

Ok gents, this is gettin a little frustrating, and its NOT your fault...! I can get full screen no problem. Thats been figured out and is not the issue. The issue is that once upon a time when I clicked on a PDF file that was featured say, on a woodworking site of a project, when I clicked on the PDF link it would download and open up right away. Right now, when I click on a PDF link, it downloads BUT it stays down in the task bar at bottom of the screen as a flashing Adobe logo, and will not open until I click that logo...make sense...?

This DOES NOT happen if I open a PDF file thats sittin on my desktop. It opens up right away and is ready to read/scroll/enlarge/reduce, whatever I wish. Could this be something to do with IE8 settings...?

I hope this time I am making myself more clear, as I hate to waste a chaps time chasing gremlins that may in fact be my own cockups...simple or otherwise...!!! :o

Cheers, Laurie

Hi uncepine,

Sounds like a possable browser issue if the problem is only with links while browsing. Check on your "Internet" pane of "preferances" and be sure you have a check mark on the "Display PDF in Browser" in your Adobe program.

All the best -- Bill

What browser are you using (Chrome, FF, IE or other)? .

I am using IE8 at the present time. I don't like IE9 'cause they buggered up the
top side menus with faves, etc. moved to the right side...STUPID...!!!

I also use Bing as a home page, kinda got used to the nice pics p[osted new each day..!

Weird, I deleted that comment

"What browser are you using (Chrome, FF, IE or other)?"

I re-read your earlier post and saw that you said you use IE8, so I deleted that post.

I assume that you can still see it (I can't).

Ahh...ok, now I'm confused also...

...because the email I got saying there was a new post, didn't show up anything...??!! Sumthins goin all pear shaped...!

Anyhoo, I STILL have the same issue even with all the suggestions turned on. Like I said, the issue of readin a PDF in full screen is not the issue. I used to be able to click a PDF link on someone's website and the PDF would immediately open without having to click the Adobe icon in the taskbar at bottom of page.

From the desktop a PDF will pop open full screen no prob. Sooooo...where do we go from here...?

Still hackin away at the issue...!!

I unpinned all the stuff from the left side start menu panel, but still the same thing happens...or does NOT happen...! The Adobe logo just sits in the taskbar flashing yellow, and I hafta mouse over it to see a small pic of the opened file. Clicking it will give full screen. So, back to the drawing board as they say...!

Window Focus Control

I experience what you're describing (occasionally).
I'm not sure how you control the Window focus (when launching programs).

About 1/3 of the time, when I start something that requires "rights elevation", the UAC doesn't pop up and lock the screen, it just sits on the Taskbar flashing.

It sometimes happens with other programs.

But have you unpinned the Adobe logo from the taskbar? I didn't suggest unpinning anything from the start menu!
