PDF-Xchange no thumbs in x64 Win Explorer

I'm using PDF-Xchange Viewer Pro and I'm not seeing my pdf files as thumbnails in Windows Explorer. I've only just found this out as I've downloaded some fifty images as pdf files and I can't see 'em
Whether I've missed a simple setting or I need to re-save using "Save As.." I don't know.

I came across the below (edited) quoted post in this thread but sadly not detailed in how to do it!!

If you are not comfortable using fixes for Adobe, PDF X-Change viewer is an alternative.....

It can also be used to generate PDF thumbs in x64 for those who simply prefer Adobe.

Could someone please tell me how to set up PDF-Xchange Viewer or tell a n00b to the program how to use it properly!

Are you seeing them as associated with PDF-XChange Viewer, or as unknown types? Do other files with images provide thumbnails for you?

One solution I read was to uninstall Adobe Reader and remove every trace of it in the registry. Not for the faint of heart.

No trace of Adobe Reader remains on here. De-camped it a few months back.

The pdf files are known as "PDF-Xchange Viewer Documents" so the assoc. is OK

You should not need to have any special setting to generate a thumb. PDF-X Change should do this by default.

Although this should already be set,
Right click the document and choose: Open With - 'Choose Default Program" and set for PDF Xchange.


You will need to set the view to be at least medium icons.

If still no thumbs, you may try deleting the thumb cache and regenerate your thumbs.

I use PDF Xchange just to make the thumbs, and then switch back to Adobe as the default reader.
But you should still be getting thumbs and preview with its default settings.

I was hoping you would answer!!
I'll do as suggested, I thought I'd covered all options, but maybe not. Currently fighting with Office '10 trial trying to get it to recognise at least 1 of the 7 (so far) validation keys M$ have given me.
Nice to know I haven't missed clicking a "specific" box. Then again, may have been the easier answer!!

Im seeing no change, Is there a real answer or is it pot luck?(I ferkin hate pot luk ansas!!) An afterthought, I've re-assigned the ICON to a much prettier one I grabbed off dA. Would that stuff the thumbs view??

Note, I said grabbed icon, not thumb. Don't see icons in thumb view (clue in name!!)

Sadly, if I (ahem!) pass wind, my first reaction is to re-set t'icon cache. In fact, my iconcache, through a script, dies at (nearly) every re-boot. This is only prob I've had so far, threw me sideways a bit. But IconCache aint the answer. T'images sloooowly re-building though!!(I could speed that up in one re-boot, but 'it' made me suffer,,,, revenge is sweet)!!!!
