Gads! I hate to see anything thrown away, that may still have some use left in it.

I am still running a video card that most would have thrown away, years ago.
It was many years ago now, when it started throwing colored pixels all over the screen. I immediately recognized that as a video RAM problem. I took the vid card out of the PC and took it to the kitchen sink, where I scrubbed the ram chips with soap and water and an old toothbrush. After a thorough rinsing in Denatured Alcohol I set the card out on the porch to dry in the afternoon sun. Later I reinstalled that card back into the PC and it's been running flawlessly ever since. I do the same for RAM sticks that start throwing errors.

I remember an old saying from my distant past, "Waste not, Want not".
I was born into a generation where we'd never throw away anything that could possibly be repaired.

Last year, my neighbors threw out a beautiful chrome stand fan because it wouldn't run any more. I took it home, freed up the stuck bearings and I use it to this day. And, with the hot weather we've been having, it's been a life saver.
"Waste not, Want not"

Cheers mates (stay cool)
