Working on my ex-gf's new laptop for 2 whole days. She has a Kodak camera so wanted Easyshare to manage her photos. We download and install it and an option says it can import ALL folders that reside in MY PICTURES. Click "OK". After seeing that there are so many duplicates (4100 photos total), she now wants ONLY her Kodak photo folder imported. I uninstall and reinstall but it comes up showing 4100 photos still there. I'm loathe to try deleting all 4100 photos as I don't trust that it won't physically delete the photos. I try uninstall 2-3 times and each time no matter what I do, it magically refinds the original 4100 photos even though I've not specified that option.

Turns out, buried in some PUBLIC folder is a BACKUP of the 2 primary Kodak Easyashare software catalog files (but naturally named something completely different with different extensions). This is NOT deleted upon uninstall. Super. Thanks.

What's so hard about having one more popup and a half dozen lines of code to blow away a prior install's photo catalog?

I quit using Kodak's SW because of problems like this. You don't really need it Just connect the camera to the PC using a USB cable and import the pictures. Then, you won't have these problems.

I organise my pictures by putting them in different folders, then user explorer to view them. I usually only want to look at one folder a time so it suits me.
I stay away from programs like this and I once installed them and had duplicates. So I deleted them from the program. However doing so also deleted the pictures themselves completely off the system.
Silly me
