I have a Dell Inspiron 9300, a laptop ravaged by age. I'm trying to squeeze more life out if with a fresh Windows 7 install. I've tried Windows Classic, but it's... out of place? I just don't like a modern Windows logo on a Classic colour scheme. It just seems off.

The laptop has a reasonable graphics card, but very limited RAM and processing power. (2.1 GB and 1.5 Ghz)

I am not opposed to a Windows Classic-ish appearance if it actually looks like Windows 200 or 98.
What would be ideal would be a very light theme that resembles that of Vista or 7, however.

Any tips on this? Or pre-made themes?

Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
I suppose the key to a theme with little extra or unnecessary wasted resources to run it is to use the same size images as your recommended resolution and file types and sizes to a minimum meaning jpeg images and small kb files sizes at or under 500kb and only a hand full of them in one screen saver slide show,
Same for desktop back grounds,
Most web accessible images are low resolution or kb size already kind of a free image quirk no one shares high resolution images for free or very often difficult to find,

So basically making your own theme is the best way to accomplish a good theme of your choosing on any system and not having a third party do it for you

So what is your recommended resolution,
Click Start and type resolution in the search box and that suggestion will take you to the information,
Cheers.

Hi Gardo. I have a old 2007 Dell Dimension E521 that I upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 and 3GB Ram.
I found a theme that works very well on my desktop and I think you'll like it too. I recommend this theme....

I doubt that's a good idea
Okay for 3 gigs but 2.1 is very low plus research the theme and what else it takes to use it first,
Do it yourself,
Cheers.
