permanently hide specific notification icons

To fix a few small but annoying issues, I decided to do a fresh format/install of my OS (7 Ult x64), and for the life of me, I can't recall how to permanently disable a few of the notification area icons. Just can't find where the appropriate setting is hidden!

Specifically I want to hide the volume, wireless (I don't even have a wireless connection!), and action center icons.

If someone could be kind enough to remind me where I found these the first time without issue I'd be greatly appreciative lol.

Thanks!

Russell

Hey Shawn,

Thanks for the prompt reply, but I don't want to just hide them from being visible, I want them PERMANENTLY removed from appearing (so they don't even show in the jpg above). I had them set that way previously, I just can't recall where the settings are for those. . .

If you click the "customise" link, does that not lead you into enough for your requirements?

Apart from Brink's excellent Tutorial, which will certainly lead you to the correct path, perhaps you want to actuall remove them from this panel?

I am surprised that you, as you say, found it so easily the first time. I was using the earlier Betas for some time, before I "fell over" this

Right click the arrow, or white triangle, and select properties. That could be the Window you first found?

Many apps, somewhere in their settings, have the option to not have a notification icon. These must also, because I was able to hide them on my previous install (December or so?), so there MUST be a way. . . honestly don't recall how long it took me to find them last time either, but, that's why I'm posting here. . .so I don't have to search. I don't just want them hidden when inactive (as the tutorial shows), I want them ALWAYS gone, active or not.

Turn system icons on or off, in Customizing the notification area...very bottom.
Btw, the wireless is not wireless it covers the whole network.

This is what I'm referring to:

see how realtek has a display icon in notification area radial button?

That one was easy to find, and to deselect. The other apps must have something similar, as I had them turned off on my previous install. . . I just don't recall where to find that option on those three.

Russell,

For the "System Icons", you would uncheck the Always show all icons on the taskbar box and select the Hide icon and notifications optionfor the ones you want to not display in the notification area. Does doing this not remove them for you?

Ah, I'm a dolt! It was right there all along, tiny blue letters along the bottom of the customize window, Turn System Icons On And Off. LOL, I knew it was easy when I did it the first time, just lack of sleep these days I guess. Thanks as always for the help.
