Hi,

I've had my PC left on or in sleep mode for several days then shut it down properly a couple of days ago. On restart (every time) I get a BSOD (page fault in non-paged area, 0x50) within a couple of seconds of the Windows logo appearing.

Safe Mode is consistently ok.

I installed an SSD about a month ago and transferred OS onto that (didn't reinstall) but it's been fine since then - no issues to speak of. I still have the old SATA HDD connected but even using that on its own gives a BSOD at the same point. Have also tried disconnecting all but new SSD - no change. Since installing the SSD the page file has been set at 100(init) - 1024(max) Mb.

RAM (2 x 2Gb) seems ok. Tried with both sticks individually and same issue. Having read some other posts on the topic I ran memtest86+ (both sticks in place): 3 passes with no errors.

I did have DaemonTools (sptd.sys driver) installed originally but removed after seeing advice in other threads... still no change.

No other USB devices connected.

Selecting "last known good config" in boot options doesn't help.

Hope I've covered everything. Diag Tool dump attached from most recent event. Thanks in advance,
Darren

Hi,

Please uninstall Avast and Comodo AV and Firewall programs, Avast can be uninstalled in safemode,
once uninstalled using the Removal tool reboot into normal mode:

:ar: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility

As an alternative, please install:

:ar: Microsoft Security Essentials.

Recommended from a strict BSOD perspective, compatibility & stability
compared to other antiviruses/internet security software.

   Note
Once downloaded, update and run a full system scan

How is the system now? Can you boot into normal mode?

Cheers

Dave

Thanks Dave,

The Avast utility worked great, but I had some fun trying to get rid of Comodo... Nevertheless, think I got all its little tendrils and am now able to boot normally, so the advice is much appreciated! I didn't try a normal boot between uninstalls, so not sure which was the culprit, but the troubles I had kicking Comodo out might be an indication.

System stable for a couple of hours now and I've left MSE doing a full scan so will see if it picks anything else up.

Much happier, cheers!
Darren
