We have a user that just all of a sudden will get a random pop-up like the one shown below.
Sometimes it is accompanied by audio that is hard to hear.
Usually Internet Explorer is not even open when this occurs.
Have tried:
Malwarebytes
Rogue Killer
Spybot

The latpop is running Symantec Endpoint

That popup is probably not from malware.

Browsers allow this popup to be triggered by the website being visited. It was supposed to be used to let the web designer warn users not to leave the website until forms (or some steps) were completed. The popup is abused by those that just don't want users to leave their website. Adverts can trigger the popup too. The user can avoid websites that create this popup or just deal with it.

Preventing it from coming up is probably not a good idea... since it is useful if the user has not complete some form.

She might not have had a browser window showing, but if you check Windows Task Manager, iexplorer.exe is probably still running. The popup can occur after you close the normal IE browser window.

If you want to know for sure which process is creating that window, then use a tool like Process Explorer.

You might want to watch this in the full screen mode and at 720p.

Hi,

Make sure System is updated with the latest Windows patch and Service pack.

If there is evidence that malware is on a system but anti-malware software is not able to remediate it. Assistance is required to determine which files on the system may be malware. Refer this guide: How to run the Threat Analysis Scan in Symantec Help (SymHelp)
Symantec - How to run the Threat Analysis Scan in Symantec Help (SymHelp)

Best Regards,
Chetan
