Hi all,

I'm looking for a BIOS update for my E-System laptop but don't think I should have to pay for it. Does any1 know where I can get hold of the latest Phoenix AwardBIOS update?

I know the latest is v6 and I want it! *stamps feet* LOL

Cheers

Pay for a bios update ...that's ludicrous. e-system charges its pc owners to fix e-systems mistakes or improve stability and usability?

Wish I could help, but you would know better than me where to get something for free. ;)

Good Luck

Orb, you gotta be kidding me. You have to PAY for a BIOS update?!?

I'm in shock. Revolt. Kill. Exceedingly foul language!

(And yes, 'Beginning', that appears to be your BIOS version)

I remember several years ago, I had a Phx Bios I wanted to upgrade, & every where I looked on the internet, they wanted to sell you a new chip with the bios already installed. So I was more careful when I picked my motherboards, that they would have Award Bios chips.

Let's clear up a few things here,

- Phoenix/Award, AMI, etc DO NOT provide bios updates to end users, they only provide the original bios/bios chip to the motherboard or system builder, whi then customizes it for the motherboard.

- ALL bios updates come from the system builder in the case of the OP's laptop (or any other Dell/HP/etc built computer) and nowhere else; you cannot use a bios from a motherboard manufacturer.

- if you have a custom or self-built computer then you would get the bios update from the motherboard manufacturer.

Anyone scouring the net looking for a bios update is wasting their time, as getting a bios from anywhere other than the system builder or motherboard manufacturer runs a very good chance of bricking the motherboard.
