OK Just got new PC with 7 and with my old XP Machine I had all of my photos in MyDocuments\My Pictures

All of my "My Documents" folders and files were backed up onto an External Hard Drive and zipped together into 1 file.

When I extracted the zip file into my new PC several warnings came up about my "My Pictures" folders and moving them into the photo library which I acknowledged and did.

I can easily access my photos now my going to "Pictures" and it takes me into the library just fine.

My main concern is ... where are photos physically located at? I no longer see a folder in my documents. I regularly backup my PC my zipping the My Documents folder into one zip file then saving on my external hard drive.. I just want to make sure the photos are being backed up also

Hello Ron, and welcome to Seven Forums.

By default, anything saved into the "Pictures" library is actually saved into the C:\Users\(user-name)\My Pictures folder.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/595-library-set-save-folder.html

Having either location (library or user folder) included in your backup, will have the pictures included in the backup.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

So if I go into my documents folder and zip all of them together you are saying my pics will be included in the backup? Just worried because I do not see any folder in there for my photos

No, the My Documents is a separate folder, so you will need to select that folder if you want it in the backup as well. Each library folder saves to their corresponding C:\Users\(user-name) folder by default.
