Photoshop PSD files [ thumbnail view ]

guys, im curious if it is possible to make a thumbnail view for PSD files? like in windows XP....



also one more thing.... is desktop.ini not applicable in win7? cause my USB has a background image and it wont' show up in win7.... ?

Just tried the psicon fix in W7-7127x86 ...
The registry hack had disastrous effects .... Thank heavens for a reg backup.

RTM supports thumbnail view for PSD. so it's ok now...

I use Irfanview as my default Image Viewer/Editor ... And I can browse thumbnails of all image file types in a specific folder with it.

Since psd files can be really huge file sizes .. Is probably why M$ won't thumbnail them.

I don't think this isn't anywhere near as annoying as being forced to look at Thumbnails instead of Icons .. I can't see what I have file types I have on my desktop using Vista or W7 ??

You said you could see thumbnails of psd files ... HOW ??

Hummm .. I thought that was just another 3rd party Thumbnail browser.
Now that I've installed it ... It Works

BTW if you would prefer to display your PDF files as thumbnails have a look at
Xchange viewer...

PDF Viewer - Software To Open A PDF File - PDF Editing Software

The free version is a cut down version of their commercial viewer but it's the first, and so far the only viewer that correctly renders PDF thumbnails in Windows 7 RTM x64.

Even the cut down free version has better options than Adobe reader

Thumbnails of "Documents" makes absolutely no sense to me.
That just compounds my problem of not being able to see what file types I'm working with.

There's another post here somewhere ..
Where they are complaining about the fact that Adobe has fixed the W7 problem (confusion) and is providing Icons now.

I'll have to try to remember this

If only I could show Icons on my Desktop .. I might be able to use W7

I assume that this will revert to the correct icon - either when the Xchange viewer is made default - or as and when the Cache is flushed, either by time or manually.

There is an option available to choose not to display the icons on thumbnails - in folder and search options

I know .. But this shuts down ALL Thumbnail Browsing/Viewing ..
And that's not an acceptable solution for disabling the use of Thumbnails in place of Icons on the desktop workspace ONLY.

My previous screen shot shows a worst case example ... Find the Clipboard gif file ??

I may have not explained myself sufficiently, I meant the small application icon that appears in the lower right hand corner of thumbnails rather than the choice between icons and thumbnails.

I agree with you that there should be the option to switch off thumbnails in a folder or the desktop - it's all about user choice - I always display the file extensions for a similar reason - I will often have a Docx, Doc, PDF, and .xps version of a document so I can provide alternates to others.

On a similar issue I have requested Microsoft change Office live Workspace to show file extensions - four identical icons with the name "Quote 123" is not an efficient way of working :huh:

You can easily see the icons by right clicking your mouse in the desktop and under view, click "show desktop icons"

I want to see Icons .. Not Thumbnails ... Turning the desktop OFF is not a solution.
If only M$ would remember there's a difference in the of the display of ... and the purpose for .. Icons or Thumbnails....
And give me a choice.
