When i am installing php it gives me an error half way saying it encountered an unexpected error installing this package with an error code 2738.

I have tried the regstv jscript.dll and regstv vbscript.dll but still unable to install.

Can anyone help me with solving this problem.

Agreed. Most everyone I asked back in the day recommend to just install a package (I use XAMPP). Installing the apps individually is possible but configuring them to actually work together is a huge pain. Even the guys who knew how to told me not to bother and just use XAMPP.

You can get it here: apache friends - xampp

Besides if you are going to learn it its normally smart to have a real server cause my "test software" never displayed it the same my actual server does. So i ended up removing my test software creating blahblahbalh.blah/sdafjasdhf/test/asldf so I could test my site from my real server and not the software.

The modules are bloatware. Its most likely tnanoha would not need them for learning the language at an entry-level. The coding behind Joomla, for instance, even confuses me. And I've been building applications with PHP & SQL for some years now.
Possibly, the best resource would be W3Schools Online Web Tutorials
It covers the basics for most common web languages, and then some.
Another excellent tutorial site is Tizag Tutorials

I highly recommend WAMP, (or LAMP on Linux) and becoming familiar with these two sites.

Yeah, when I started out my friends' advice to try out those prepackaged stuff just lead to confusion.

Btw xarden, is the difference between Wamp and Xampp the additional modules in Xampp? Looking at the features I must admit I don't use Pear, perl, ftp, mail, etc... it does seem I could ditch them and go with Wamp, which seems to only include the bare-bones 3 (Apache + MySQL + PHP). I don't even use the phpMyAdmin interface, I downloaded another freeware SQL frontend for that (HeidiSQL).

I could say stuff about Xampp, but I wont. I'l be talking nonsense if I do, because I havnt used it as extensively as I've used Wamp.
But yes, I believe so. Reading through the Apachefriends site you posted, the current build 1.7.3 includes FileZilla, Mercury Mail, and Perl.
None of which you need for an R&D local host.
Maybe you'd need the filezilla if its a dedicated server behind firewalls and broadcasting to the world to see?
But on a laptop, or PC... shouldnt need to.

I only use phpMyAdmin to set up my databases, then I write a specific tool that fits the purpose for my webapps.

...which reminds me, I've got a cool little toy on my website that may be of interest to someone.
Its throwing an error at the moment...
Edit: fixed. Maybe.

edit2: still buggy with odd size images...cbf fixing it.
