I have a 64 bit system that I use with an Element tv connected with an HDMI cable. Just today, my computer just didn't have a picture. I turned the machine off and on, but I can't even see a single startup screen. Just "No signal", since I use a tv for a monitor. What should I do?

Is there a problem with the HDMI port on my computer tower?

Hi ColSomeone,
Welcome to the SevenForums!

Sir,

As I understand, you have no monitor now, am i right ? So, helping options are very narrow & you definitely need a PC to make some downloads, etc.

1. Shut down the system, turn off the TV, take out the HDMI cable from PC & TV, dust out the HDMI ports on TV & PC, Attach the HDMI cable to TV & PC, put on the TV & start your PC. Does it make any change ?

2. Try to use a different HDMI cable.

3. Try to use another HDMI Ports if available on TV & PC. My TV has 3 HDMI ports.

4. Just check whether there are other options to take the 'video output' from PC & to put it as 'video input' into the TV. I mean to say other than HDMI options, other type of wires/connectors.

5. just check whether video inputs from other pc/laptop work in the same TV.

6. just check whether the Video output from your PC work with other monitors ( Laptop, Desktop, TV )

7. Do you have any System Image previous to the corruption ? Did you make any WinRE for the pc ?

8. Mention your PC specs as much as you know/can.

9. You can just try a good Ubuntu from a DVD instead of installing it to the internal hard disk. Would you like to check your luck ? If you can see the TV screen, Its the problem with the installed OS & not the hard ware! Do you have internal / external DVD drive ?

Let me know.

( I am out on a tour. So, the response may be delayed but i would try to answer as soon as possible )

Thanks & Regards. ...

Well, I thank you for the concern, but I now think that it might be due to the port on the tower and not the cables or the monitor. Might I need to buy another computer and transfer my data onto a bigger hard drive, or try something less drastic? And I use 7, 64 bit with a 25 GB hard drive

Hi,

1.First of all make sure whether problem is HDMI Cable OR HDMI Port(s) on TV or PC OR something else.

2. HDMI basically takes HD VIDEO & AUDIO output from PC to TV. There may be other options/ports available on your PC & TV.
Just have a look on the Ports / options available on this TV.

Options other than HDMI on TV.PNG

(i) You can see what different options may be available ( for eg. in the above image for TV : Video 1, Video 2 , HDMI 1, HDMI 2, PC, etc. ). Same way look on/for your PC options/ports. You would need to explore it yourself or with someone who has physical access to your PC,TV, etc.
Google may come good.
If you provide me exact make & model of your TV, PC, MotherBoard, etc. i can look into the online manuals for your devices ( if available ). If you manage to get some very fine snaps of ports on your devices, i may try to help you but it is hard from distance.

(ii) Some options may only work for Video output for eg.Video ports would not take the Audio from PC to TV. You may use audio options available with your PC itself or use available Audio input/output options available with your PC, TV and/or other AUDIO devices.

(iii) You may be / may not be happy with HDMI alternatives but at least we can collect some information & try some troubleshooting if video output is available.

(iv) I am just looking in the options if your HDMI port(s) on the PC are gone. I think you can install new HDMI ports depending on your MB options.

(v) If you are planning to buy a complete replacement, a Desktop Monitor is just enough but make sure that it includes effective connection options other than HDMI.

(vi) And yes 25 GB hard disk is too small to run windows without any problems. Is it 25 GB or 250 GB ?

Thanks & Regards. ...
