Solved Pimsleur language discs cannot be slowed

Windows 7 media player will play but I have no slider to slow the playback. I think Pimsleur language files are MP3 . Is there a codec or ? to allow it to play. everything displays ok and sounds ok but there is no slider on the delay bar and the 3 fixed speeds don't work, only the regular speed. Thanks for any thoughts

If you play the discs using VideoLAN from VLC, you can slow down or speed up playback by tapping the "<<" and ">>" buttons. Works for CDs, mp3 files, movies, you name it.
