Pinned program -> Shortcut?

Hey there,

I used to have a shortcut of Firefox on my taskbar. It was just the icon of Firefox and when I clicked on it, a NEW program tab would open in the taskbar. Just like when you, for example, open a folder, a new program tab opens in the taskbar. The nice thing was, this shortcut in the taskbar stayed where it was. But now I reinstalled Firefox and when I pin the .exe to the taskbar and click on it, it "transforms" into a new program tab in the taskbar. When I close every Firefox window, it returns to the single icon again. What did I do wrong? If you dont know what I mean, it used to be like a Quick Launch bar (with just one icon though) just that it acted like a pinned program (when I right clicked it, I could choose "unpin" "open firefox" etc). I found something via google that suggests making a real quick launch bar: Add the Quick Launch Bar to the Taskbar in Windows 7 - How-To Geek
But thats not what I mean. Though it is similar, its not the same.
Any idea?

Hello oloindafolo2, welcome to Seven Forums!

First unpin the exec then open just one instance of FF and at the taskbar icon right click and select the "pin to ..." option, just a guess as I don't use FF; be sure to keep us informed.

Hey

Thanks for your answer but that doesnt give me the desired outcome. Because when I do this it simply creates a shortcut on the taskbar but when I click on it, it again "transforms" into a tab until I close FF again and it returns to being a shortcut. I believe, this is the way it is meant to be, actually. Just that I would rather have it as it used to be. Something I forgot: I accidently installed FF directly into Program Files folder before. When it was there, it worked perfectly as described in my first post. But when I "correctly" installed it into the Mozilla Firefox folder, it doesnt work that way anymore :(

Maybe that'll do it for you?

Dunno about that, actually it was rather distracting to have all those files flying around in the program files folder :P
But I found a solution that solved this for me:
Richtclick, new, create shortcut. For destinatin, choose: explorer "c:\program files\mozilla firefox\firefox.exe" (or wherever that is installed). Then just change the icon of this shortcut (as it seems to actually be a shortcut to explorer.exe) and add it to the taskbar. Now it stays the same and all is fine.
Thanks for trying though!
