Pinning vertically

You can pin programs to the Win7 task bar, but I want to have a pop-up that I can pin a few programs within the vertical alignment of a pinned program. If you pin a program beside the start button and you want to pin another program it would go to the right of the task bar. I want to pin it vertically so I click on a part of the task bar and I have a list of custom programs vertically.

You can create custom jumplist (menu, which pops up on right click on pinned item) and put your custom programs in such jumplist.

Right-click an empty space on the taskbar. If Lock the taskbar has a check mark next to it, the taskbar is locked. You can unlock it by clicking Lock the taskbar, which removes the check mark. · Click an empty space on the taskbar, and then hold down the mouse button as you drag the taskbar to one of the four edges of the desktop. When the taskbar is where you want it, release the mouse button.

I know how to lock an unlock the task bar. I want a vertical bar for a set of icons. You click on the icon and vertically a set of programs pop up within that icon -

my comment wasnt aimed at you it was aimed at the comment above my last post which has since been edited making my post look like im telling you,
the comment was about the taskbar only being horizontal and i was pointing out it doesnt have to be and how to change it.

With this many shortcuts I usually have it open in Grid mode, but I wanted to show the vertical stack.

It's a nice utility. The only "bug" I found is really a Windows bug. 1 out of 10 icons you might get blank paper icon instead of the app icon for the shortcut. I just extract the icon from the app and put it in an icon folder in documents. I do Change Icon and navigate to that. Other than that it's solid.

I've found it doesn't work with some 64bit programs. 7Stacks which I posted a link to earlier does.

When's the last time 7Stacks was updated? I ask because I tried it out when I saw the announcement on seven forums. It was flaky enough I took it off and looked for something else. Where are these 64 bit programs? Only reason I can think of it wouldn't work would be if the app was in a folder that gets caught up in redirection. But then any 32 bit launcher would have the same problem.

(I just looked. 7Stacks last revision is July 5, 2009.. so I definitely tried the latest version.)

I had trouble with VirtualBox and the Snipping tool. There were also programs where it wouldn't extract the icon but I can't remember which they were.

I don't put everything in one launcher. I tend to use Standalone Stacks for stuff I use frequently but not often enough to pin to TaskBar by themselves. I have folders in RocketDock with categories of apps. No one launcher is perfect for everything. I use FARR hotkey launcher and a couple of specialized ones I wrote myself.

I liked 7Stacks but there was something unstable about it. It was long enough ago I don't remember exactly what motivated me to search out something similar. But then on some systems it may work perfectly. Not every bug shows up on every PC.

I've been running it for a couple of months now and on my system its stable but a bit slow on occasion.
