My PC Blu-Ray burner/player drive has been giving me 'failed' burns for the past few weeks.

Sometimes it will burn just fine, and then it will take 3 or 4 failed attempts to burn successfully.

Today, trying to burn the same data, it failed 6 times. I've tried re-booting, thinking it might be a RAM, or memory issue, but no, burns still fail.

I think my drive may be going bad, can someone take a look at the Log.txt, and see if it indicates what the issue is?

Win7

Thanks!

Your log indicates "UDF", thus suggesting you are using Nero InCD or the packet writing method. This is the most unreliable CD burning method and should be avoided. If this is the case, burning a "regular" DATA disc is preferred. I use Nero, but use the Nero "BurningROM" application for CD/DVD burning. The Nero program you are using is very old. Try a more current program (that will work on XP) such as the free CDBurnerXP.

Another possibility is CD-RW media, which along with InCD should be avoided. Only use CD-R discs. Another is you have a bad batch of discs, try a different batch, brand, etc. and see if that works.

Finally, the drive may be failing, which is usually a fault of the Laser that is used to burn and read discs.

Thanks for the swift response. I've been using the same Nero for many years, and the same drive for about 3 years. The discs are new Sony Blu-Rays. How do I switch it to "regular" DATA disc? I don't see anywhere to change that setting.

Oops, I should have mentioned that I have already tried that, instead of 10X, I tried 8X, 6X, and 4X...all failed. Just tried 2X...failed.

Can you read from a disk on the driver?

The Laser varies in intensity depending on whether reading or burning (and what type of disc its burning). Sounds like the drive may have developed a problem with the Laser.

Try burning a CD-R and see if that works. A CD-R will take a different (less powerful) laser beam. If it works on CD-R, try a DVD+r or -R and see it will burn to that. If it burns to CD and or DVD but not the Blu-Ray it can point to a hardware problem with the drive..

Went out to the Pioneer Web site and D/L'd the latest firmware(2016), and installed it. Burning Blu-Rays still fail.

Just burned some CD's and DVD's OK. Blu-Rays still fail. Looks like it's time for a new drive.

It could be, but unlikely, as the discs are all from the same 50 pak, which I bough sealed.

One last check before I decide to buy a new drive. I re-booted, and was able to burn 2 Blu-Ray discs, then the 3rd one failed, log is attached. Any comments before I go and buy a new drive?

Well, it looks like it may have been a memory issue...just rebooted, and was able to burn 5 Blu disks...so, I guess the issue is solved? If the drive starts failing again, I'll just buy a new one.
Thanks everyone for your help.
