I'm trying to fix a laptop with some weird virus or something on it that won't run any .exe files, including internet explorer or google chrome. Whenever i try to open either one up, the choose a program window pops up.
I've tried fixing this problem almost every way, but can't open anything, windows update doesn't open either.
From what I found out there is a file that needs to be downloaded. Some kind of .reg or whatever. But I'm not sure it's the same problem since all the people asking could download the file. I can't download it to the laptop cause ie and chrome don't work on it.
I'm going to use another computer to get the file, but I'm wondering if it's going to help...
To make it a little more clear, any program or feature I want to open won't work, a windows pops up asking me to choose a program, or browse for it. I browse for it, but that doesn't work.
It has a malware-bytes antivirus on it, but was disabled by whatever got onto the system.
