Please don't ask users to run 'Security' Apps!

If you don't know how our certain security applications render their findings, then please don't ask for them!!


Those of us who know the Developer's and what to look for, work on many other forums. It just takes time away from us to go through more than "WE" asked for. It's okay to ask and have a look at the Topic, tho'!

So basically, only let people with fancy mvp badges etc help out with security problems? Sorry, but i don't have any of these fancy things, i don't work on other forums, i've never helped on another forum like this yet i've helped solve MANY security issues.

It has nothing to do with fancy MVP badges! :sarc:

What she is asking is not to have users run security apps if you don't know what to do with the results of those apps.

Well that's plain common sense...don't drive the car if you don't know how, don't recommend program's that you don't know how to use/read

Thanks for the heads up,
I rarely ever post in the security section,
But browsers and infections go hand in hand and there for security scanners are also in the norm for me post,
Usually to one of Jacee's... prior posts to read the directions on how to run it and post the attachments,

I look at it more as a fact finding mission to help the security professionals,
Once a boat load of wild listing are found I'll ask for the question to be moved,

MBAM and SAS scanners are pretty basic stuff and should not harm anything to remove the item/ s imho,

If your wish is for me... to stop doing this ?
Then security experts get busy and don't just hang in the security section is all I can say,
I'll always step aside once an expect arrives or a discovery has been made obvious and is moved to the security section

I think examples would be well received. Combofix and advanced tools yes. I can see that.
