I just finished building a new machine I plan to use for a HTPC. Here are the specs. I am using an AMD Phenom II 850 CPU with an MSI 880GM-E35 motherboard, a 450 watt PSU and 4GB RAM. I have loaded Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit on it and I am having issues with BSODs every 30 minutes or so. Can someone have a look at my dmp files and let me know if there is anything obvious going on? I would much appreciate it.

Thanks so much-
John

First, I would like to express my gratitude for your kind assistance here...

Yes, it is a bit quick to be having these issues and so many, eh? OK, so I have already executed memtest86 and I received some errors--IIRC, they were primarily on test #4. I ran multiple passes of each test...I would say two and some change. From what I remember, I wrote the info down but don't have it with me, the issues appeared at the beginning, middle and end of the RAM spectrum--i.e. 0.5MD, 2048MD and 4096MB....there were several instances of errors and I cannot recall exactly what they were. I also ran the Win 7 memory test and it came up fine--thus, I quickly learned that it may not be as rigorous.

I have not done the stress test. Would you suspect that it could be the RAM or the PSU? I have suspicions, as honestly, I have not gone out and sunk money into what I want--but perhaps it is now time.

The RAM I have is from Microcenter. My neighbor gave it to me so I thought I would give it a shot. Thus, I haven't spend any money on it.
RAM Specs: 4GB DDR3-1333 (PC3-10666) CL9--

Its a two, 2GB matched set and it claims to be AMD tested on the package.

My PSU is also something I could easily replace--and I plan to do so soon anyhow...it came with my case and is a 450 watt (I believe) from Sentey.

Also, I forgot to add that the only USB device I have used is a wireless transmitted/receiver for a Logitech keyboard/mouse combo

Hello,
Memtest86 showed some errors during test#4, so it could be RAM or mobo slot faulty.
You must replace it with good RAM stick, then test it in all slot to see if there is any defected mobo slot.

Then for the PSU, I cannot tell whether it have some problem unless you perform practical test, such as check the rail voltage with multimeter.
Since you use the PSU that came with the case, it would be better to replace it with reputable brand unit.
A good PSU will last years and support you through several hardware upgrades.

Resolved

I acted on a hunch that it was the RAM and I went to the store and grabbed some Crucial Ballistic. I ran memtest for several passes and then stress tested everything. Everything seems great now. No errors and no BSOD. Thanks for the help in getting this resolved rather painlessly.

Cheers
