Solved Please help install ATI properly

Hi
I have an hp g62 notebook, and I have been trying to install ATI on it,so I went to the hp website and downloaded the version of ATI provided for my notebook,anyway every time I try to install nothing changes,my ATI technologies folder is empty any idea how to fix this?

and please,if you need any more details just ask me,because I'm kind of new to the whole graphic cards thing,so I don't know what more information to provide.

I really don't know much about notebooks, but on my desktop, I download driver sweeper, boot into safe mode and select the AMD drivers, remove them, then reboot and install the new drivers. It has always worked for me.

Yes make sure you uninstall the drivers first. From my experience with ATI, sometimes you need to use an old driver to make things work properly. I would start with version 9.1 and see how that works. Just play around with the later ones afterwards, but make sure you create a restore point before you proceed to another installation.

if you have Intel hd graphics, then you don't have ati graphics.

Because Hp has many varient models that use AMD and Intel

You can get the same model number with either or depending on what it is running
Intel Hd graphics will work but to play games you have to be on super low

Also what you maybe thinking if your saying the model is suggesting to have discret gpu if that is the case then i can understand why you want to install it but generaly unless you did a clean sweep and instal of Os there is no need to update that driver

Mainly they are unified for just that model laptop

No problem. I don't think intel hd is that bad. my think pad has intel hd graphics and i played deus ex on it and it worked pretty well for not even being a gaming laptop.

Testar hasn't posted the precise model number, so it's difficult to provide accurate and complete advice.

Does this notebook include AMD switchable graphics?

If so, it'd need drivers for both the onboard Intel graphics controller, plus the separate AMD controller.

I have no personal experience with it (or nVidia's similar Optimus scheme), but it's not impossible that Testar would need both Intel and AMD graphics drivers.

I am little amazed, if your notebook does not have a ATI card. Then, how it allows you to install ATI catalyst? Generally, it should stop the installation if no compatible hardware is found while installing the drivers. I will also vote for switchable graphics option.

Please check and inform.

As i mentioned before varient models come with a discret Gpu like my E-450 Hp

Seems like you have switchable graphics but you should oly use the Driver that was issued

Updating Laptop drivers is always iffy sometimes they work sometimes not

If it does in fact use switchable graphics then you need both the Intel (installed first) and AMD drivers installed for both to work properly.

Also if it is for whatever reason HP hasn't provided and single installer that installs both at the same time. Most of the laptop manufacturers that build laptops that support switchable graphics usually provide a single installer (in this case it would be the AMD driver) that has the Intel driver integrated into it, but for this particular model it is separate installers.

Thing is, I have no switchable graphics option.
I think that's because I only have one graphic card installed at the moment.

And the driver from the hp site was the first one I tried,it installs fine and very fast it just takes under 5 secs to complete the installation and then I check the ati technologies folder and it is empty.

And here is the installation log.

it says nothing about CCC.
Why?

According to HP,

that is all that model has. No idea which of the 40 or so variants of the G62 may have the AMD graphics in it, but some of them do and that is why they list both.
