hi to all fellowz

first of all i want to thank all of sevenforum users bcoz i m a newbie computer user and i found my all solutioin in this forum.

really fellowx thanx a lot for being so supportive.

i have sony vaio vgn-n38e/w and i installed windows 7 in this laptop, my laptop is giving problem from last 3 months it hangs a lot it crashes windows, n is very very very slow.

configuration is:

1gb memory
120gb harddisk
1.18ghz dual core
and 256 graphics card

it was working awesome before 3 months but now i dunno what happen to this laptop it is become a head ache for me. please help me out fellox.

if you guys need anything else information please tell me

i fresh installed windows 7
officel 2007
windows security essential
messengers.

please help me (sorry for bad english)

@ joules thank you very much for your reply mate,, there is only batery, wireless, video graphics, volume and my mouse utility in taskbar start up.

well i use to keep kaspersky in may laptop and it was quite smoooth and every thing runs like 747 but suddenly three months before it bcom like a donkey cart duno why, defregment is done once in a week, and i regularly scan my laptop as well. on saturday nights schedule defregment and scanning takes place mate.

i dunno what happen to my hardware now,,,,

i always see my ram using more than half i.e 650mb+ is been utilised but where i dunno

and my processing amber light is mostly lit still

If you press Ctrl + Shift + Esc then task manager will pop up. If you go to the 'processes' tab and then click on 'memory' (to make it sort from most to least) then you can see what's slowing things down. Take a screenshot and then post it back here then we can see what's hogging your resources

i also use my sony vaio diagnose utility it shows everything is perfect (i dont use battery boz mostly i m at home so i keep it on charger)

the utility says everything is perfect. what happen to my laptop from last 3 months i dunno

i observed one thing, my fan is on auto when it start running than my laptop performance is little bit good and it stops haning.

there is no option in my bios to keep fan on.

Not a problem. Maybe you could even post a screen of anything that looks suspicious

Disable everything in msconfig>startup except 1,7 and 8. You can disable 8 even if you don't want/use sidebar much or delay it.

Also, disable search indexing- Enable or Disable Search Indexing - Windows 7

Download http://soluto.com install it and reboot. Click the soluto icon in tray area (it should open automatically by default) and it'll show you which applications auto-start and how much time they take from where you can pause or delay or remove them, except the items shown in grey.

Also uninstall Daemon tools. It has serious compatibility problems with Windows 7. Uninstall it normally. After that run[FONT=&quot]SPTD uninstaller[/FONT], download from- http://www.duplexsecure.com/en/downloads Select Uninstall.

Consider VirtualClone Drive. http://www.slysoft.com/en/virtual-clonedrive.html

1. I think you have a page thrashing problem. Have a look into Resource Monitor > Memory tab and look at the 2 places in the picture below. You probably need more RAM. Post back what RM shows.
2. Follow the suggestion to stop all startup programs except MSE
3. Get rid of all fancy settings - your RAM, Graphics and CPU are too weak for that.

mate how could it become weak as it wa s working so awesome 3 months b4 suddenly i dunnno why it is acting like this,,, i was running kaspersky 2010 + office 2010 + counter strike + need for speed + messengers + much application

shall i try to use fdisk ??? would it work ???

1. At the time when you were taking the RM shot, there was not much running apart a couple of IE instances. But that shot looks clean.

2. Did you stop the startups and did that show any difference?

3. no idea what you want to accomplish with fdisk

That can be done easier with Disk Management. But I am not sure whether that solves your problem. You obviously have some conflicting processes - after we excluded some of the other possibilities, that's what comes to mind.

Do you remember what you might have installed at the time when the problem started.
