1. Everytime I go to any gmail related link this page comes up: http://i43.tinypic.com/2z68jr5.png Gmail worked for me until I did a clean install of winodows 7 on my computer. As a result, I think I am missing a program/plug in that is used by gmail to operate normally. Could somebody please help me on getting gmail to work?
I have tried this on Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox.

2. Also, google in general isn't working for me since I did a clean install of windows 7. When I seach something in google, something totally random will come up which is not related to what I was searching.

I do not think I have a virus seeing as I just did a clean install of windows 7 yesterday, but I am doing a complete system scan with malwarebytes anyways.

Please help!

Thank you, currently scanning with:

- malware bytes
- super anti-spyware
- hitman pro

Super anti-spyware found 3 tracking cookies which I have now gotten rid of. Other than that, the other programs I used to scan did not pick up anything.

My problem still persists, any tips?

Just thought I would add, but when I try searching through google via the built in search bar in the top right hand side of mozilla, this window comes up:

What do I do with the host files? (sorry I'm not very tech-smart).

I got windows 7 from best buy, it was not torrented.

open notepad(as admin if using uac)-click file-open new-in file name copy/paste C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

also:
d/l dr web cureit and try scanning with it too
Dr.Web CureIt! — download free anti-virus! Cure viruses, Best free anti-virus scanner!

Thank you for the pictures but what I am actually supposed to do by checking the hosts :o

Thank you for the pictures but what I am actually supposed to do by checking the hosts :o

hosts files:
at times malware maps host because the hosts file represents an attack vector for malicious software. The file can be hijacked, for example, by adware, computer viruses, trojan horse software, and may be modified to redirect traffic from an intended destination.Certain malware edit the HOSTS file so that when a user attempts to access a certain legitimate Web site, the browser is instead redirected to a malware site.

check to see if any entry related to google etc is there or not ..post a screen shot

Here is a picture of the hosts file (all the same IP so yes I think it has been hijacked?)

Yes, it has been hijacked.
Yust delete all those lines with links to the fake google site. This will help you go to google again.
The question remains, which program caused all this.

hi... open hosts with notepad as earlier and delete the google and yahoo related entries ....see the screen shot

try gmail.......

I can't delete the google and yahoo related entries. Here's basically what happens:

1. I try to save
2. A window comes up AUTOMATICALLY asking me where on my computer I want to save
3. I choose the same location as the host file
4. It says I don't have permission, I need to be admin (BUT I AM A ADMIN).
5. So I try to overwrite the original host file and a message comes up saying "access denied"
