please help with steam offline mode

Steam has me pulling out my hair here

all my steam games work in offline mode EXCEPT portal 1 and thats the game i play the most.

Portal 2 worked just fine.


my internet speed is horrid and sometimes goes out altogether and it takes all day to get steam to log in when i do have stable internet.

Once it took 15 minutes just to log in.



I found this thread that gave me some hope.

i have the exact problem the other guy has with the exact error message and all.

Sadly i cant find this run offline thing he is talking about.



My steam is in offline mode right now and all my other games will do it.


All my games are updated and so is steam.



Please help with this prob. Thanks

Have you ever ran steam on online mode once with portal? I believe that steam needs the game to be ran once online to confirm it's tied to your user account then you can select to play in offline mode.

I have played it almost every day since October. Infact i have probably played in the hundreds of times lol. I love that game.


It is updated so is steam. From everything i have read it should play.
