Great siteguys, hello everyone, my problem being i have installed w7 ultimate 32bit on my pc but i have used my product key but now i have learned my pc can run a 64 bit version of my w7 ultimate how do i go about installing the 64bit version if i have used my product key on my 32bit version of ultimate. Please help i will be most greatful to everyone, thanks.

Hi Bedzy and welcome to the Seven Forums.

The same key is valid for both 32 and 64 bit versions, it's just that only one of those can be activated at any given time. Install your 64-bit Seven and use the same key.

As Microsoft has no deactivation process, if you switch to the X64 version, you may have to activate by telephone, as the key is already in use.

You may be able to do it using the automatic system. If not, and you're switched to a live MS rep, just describe exactly what you've done. The rule is one licenese per PC; you'd be complying with that.

I've done it a few times, installed first the 32-bit version and later decided to change it to 64-bit. Also once the other way around, an application my wife needed was not working in Vista 64 so we re-installed a 32 from the same retail pack with the same code. Never made a call, activation was always easy and without problems.
