Plug and Play Software Device Enumerator error

I've got an exclamation mark over my Plug and Play Software Device Enumerator under System Devices in my Device Manager. It almost seems as if it appeared overnight, for no reason.

I can't seem to re-install/update it. I don't want to remove it and reboot, since I've read elsewhere you will have a tough time getting it back. What gives here? Is it corrupt? How do I get it back into working order? Thanks for any help.
