Having a serious problem in that many pop-ups go behind the active screen in most programs. I miss confirmation messages and wonder why the program stalls. Searching the web, I find others with this problem but no solutions. Windows 7 64.
Hi and welcome to the Forum. Has this problem just started? If so try doing a system restore to before it first happened. Then could you please complete your system specs so that we may help you better with future problems.

1. Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow
2. Type the following command, and then press ENTER:
sfc /scannow
A message will appear stating that 'The system scan will begin'. Be patient because the scan may take some time
3. If any files require a replace SFC will replace them. You may be asked to insert your Windows 7 DVD for this process to continue
4. If everything is okay you should, after the scan, see the following message "Windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations"
5. After the scan has completed, close the command prompt window, restart the computer and check.

I do thank all who have offered suggestions. Guess I should have posted more info in that it has been with me since day 1. The same problem has been posted regarding Outlook & IE8 so I think there is some switch that needs to be checked. I did do the SFC scan -clean- and made sure Visual Effects was set as posted.

the best way is to system restore if no remedy yet try and remember the date it started happening and go to a date just before if that does not work try a repair with the windows disc back all your data up on another drive if you can

Again, new window/popup opens behind active window
Perused through many threads mentioning this irritating problem without any clear cut solution. I keep missing a pop up that asks for some additional info or the next step in a program. It is always hidden behind the active window! Could someone help this old bloke?
Mine does the same from time to time, but not constantly. Normally, I have a flashing icon on the taskbar that lets me know something is needing attention. Is this not the case with yours?

Mine too and I would have to say this is normal since I've seen it on various other setups as well. I'm amazed at how quick the folks here at Seven will freely give the advice to run SFC, System Restore or a Repair Install when it's not needed.
