We have a PC that will not allow for C++ Redistributable to be installed, or for Windows Updates to complete.

SFC /SCANNOW cannot run, andI downloaded and installed the System Update Readiness tool, which did not help.

The only instance I found on the internet of this problem getting resolved was on this forum...so I figured I'd give it a shot, if someone with a vastly superior brain to my own would be so kind?

I'd be greatly appreciative.

Hello SethMSI and welcome to Seven Forums.

If this problem just recently occurred you might be able to use a System Restore Point to roll back your computer to an earlier point in time. It's a way to undo system changes to your computer without affecting your personal user files, such as e‑mail, documents, or photos.

Since System File Checker scan is unable to run, you might consider a Repair Install. If successful it will repair your current version of Windows 7 and preserve your user accounts, data, programs, system drivers, etc.

The issue has been going on since 10/9/14, at least. Unfortunately, the Restore Points only go as far back as ~11/18 :/.

The repair installation sound promising, so long as it does not affect the installed programs. The only major downside is that it will require us to be in front of the PC, and we are currently accessing it remotely. Will have to see if we can get the physical access to try the Reinstall.

Also - ran chkdsk /r /f, which found no bad blocks, but did find some system file changes that it needed to make. Tried to run a sfc scan after, but it failed again. Added the chkdsk log to the dropbox folder, just in case.
