Possible hard drive failure after dust cleaning the CPU

It all started with my computer clocking out, now,i have a bad habit of leaving my computer on while i sleep, but the problem was, like always, too much dust because i hadnt cleaned it in a long while. I open the cpu and carefully clean the dust clumps with a toothpick like usual, and when i turn it on it says it cand find a hard drive unit in grey letters. This a normal issue i have after cleaning and i always fix it by reconnecting the cables behind the hard drive and restarting, rarely it takes more than one try. But this time it took two tries and turned on,but froze at start up after the explorer.exe stopped responding,i restart, and before the windows logo disappears when booting up it restarts itself, takes a long time to boot, and says it cant find the hard drive again. I go reconnect the cables and when i stand up to look at the screen ready to restart, the screen is all fuzzy like missingno, with a bunch of flashing colors, scared i restart, and the cpu turns on fine, but the monitor says no signal. I look down and the cooler is spinning fine, but it wont start up. I reconnect the monitor to see if thats the issue and nothing,i try turning it off for a few minutes and nothing,i try reconnecting the hard drive and nothing, the cpu turns on but it doesnt boot up,i even tried connecting the monitor with a hdmi cable but still no signal. Did i break my hard drive by not turning off the computer before disconnecting? I thought it was fine since it couldnt read it...Was i doing something totally stupid by reconnecting it in the first place?
I anxiously await assistance as im not even sure what to search on google. (And this forum has helped me a couple times in the past)

Hello and welcome amderrsom now mate first up if you have Windows 10 on that machine and you really would be better off posting this in our sister Ten Forum forum - see the top of this page - just sign up as you did for this forum same crew different OS;)
Now what you need to do when you go there is to do this first because it is very hard to help anyone when one has very few specs to be working with.
See this System Specs - Fill in at Ten Forums - Windows 10 General Tips Tutorials

Having said that I think the problem is with your GPU not with the CPU and I am just wondering what you mean by cleaning the CPU out I am assuming you mean the cooler fins and if you are using a stock cooler you might be better off using a decent air or liquid cooler because the stock ones are not that efficient.

Now just one more thing - when you post try to do it in paragraphs or point form as reading your post does make it a little confusing being what seems to be one long sentence. I am not criticising what you have written more that doing it the way I have mentioned makes for no confusion:)

But please post in the Ten Forum and do it the way I have asked and don't forget the system specs if you don't you will probably be waiting a while before you get a reply and again it will be asked for.

Sorry,i wrote this post in a blind panic, about the specs thing,i tried filling it out,but i have really bad memory when it comes to technical terms and brand names, and like i said,i cant turn on my computer to check.

I had no idea other types of coolers existed besides the fan kind, but you were right about what i meant by cleaning.
Sorry to be a bother,i will copy paste this to the other forum and continue to hope for a saving grace.

If it doesn't boot, the problem isn't the HDD.
Does it has a speaker connected to the MB to signal the beeps?
When you cleaned the CPU heat sink did you disconnected the CPU power connector (yellow and black wires)?

Look it is no bother it is easy done when something like this happens.

Now have you followed what Megahertz has asked? if not power up and listen for any beeps sometimes the board will have a small device on it that will create a beep sound and when powering up there should be a beep (one) to let you know the RAM has been tested during the start up process.

For the specs on that machine it depends on whether you bought it ready ad or built it yourself?? If it was ready made then just the model number would be good.

Ok, first of all,my model number is asrock a55m-hvs. Second,i checked all connected cables and they are all firmly connected. But what megahertz said made me curious,so i carefully listened to my pc boot up with my speakers connected, and the sound of everything running and turning off seems normal to me, but something really bizarre happened when i turned my speakers on,a beeping sound ive never heard before in my life,im 100% sure i would remember being annoyed by this incessant beeping
(If the video doesn't play heres a direct link Strange beeping - YouTube )
A guy in the sister forum just said to literally disconnect every single thing and buy an air canister to clean it all, which sounds kinda ridiculous to me aside from the cleaning part. So i just ignored him, do you think it would be me not cleaning it well enough?
It kinda sounds weird that the problem would still be too much dust.

Hmm do you have a sound card in that machine?? and is that noise coming actually out of the speakers? because I have heard some hard drives make sounds lie that in the past - spinners I mean and it is usually due to the read/write arms being faulty.

So it would be good to hear back just where the noise is coming from.

Now the dust well it is always a good idea to clean everything out but leaving slots etc exposed is not a good idea because of the obvious reason the dust can penetrate into them and to avoid that a small piece of tape on top of the slots fixes that.

Also could you please follow the link as per post #2
