Hello,
I'm not a computer guru but I do not know what the term is called when the computer starts up and you see the 'F1' through 'F12' commands.

My HPdv6700 laptop which has Win7 Ultimate 64-bit has not been able to get pass this screen. Basically all I see is 'hp invent' and stuck here for hours. Before it used to run fine with WinVista 32-bit.

I don't know but I was suggested maybe it's something with my BIOS?

So Windows 7 has never worked since upgrading from Vista?

I am confused. You said in your opening post, "My HPdv6700 laptop which has Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit has not been able to get pass this screen."

So if it "ALWAYS" has a problem, and it is not able to get past that screen, how is it working atm? What do you do to get it past that screen?

Sorry. I was stating what my OS was if in any case if that could've been a problem.

But for the ALWAYS having this problem is true. Oddly the case of it working is random. Once it gets past this screen the laptop works fine but the long start up is troubling me. Some cases it'll be a black screen for as long as I leave it on. Some cases it'll get to the 'hp invent logo' aka Post Boot up screen I guess.

Again, that is confusing. Working randomly and "ALWAYS" is contradictory.

That said, most slow boot up problems are caused by hardware drivers failing, or having difficulty loading. It can also be due to unavailable, but expected network or attached drives. Any errors in Device Manager?

Yes, Coprocessor and something with nVidia controller. The only two.

Well, the NVIDIA is the clue. NVIDIA is the maker of your graphics processor. You should visit HP for your computer and download and install the latest Windows 7 64-bit drivers for your computer.

Hm, would that explain why my sounds cut off when using my laptop?
Well I have tried updating it seeing others having this problem, I downloaded '12.35 nforce win7 64bit international whql'
but still no success... :[

Yes. I shut down my laptop after I installed. I'm on it now but it has no sound but I heard that was also because of nVidia.
But regarding to getting pass the post boot up screen it actually didn't take very long but maybe can that be I let the laptop sit for six hours-ish before turning back on. I usually have to wait hours though before turning the laptop on. If I consecutively turn it off and on it will never get pass the post boot up screen.

I didn't post this earlier but should I post my specs or do you have enough you needed to know?

Also, I found this program 'Driver Genius Professional Edition' on my laptop just now and scanned my laptop and it said three drivers are out of date, but sadly it will not update for me. :P

But I just updated my 'nVidia GeForce 7150 / nForce 630M'
The other two needing to be updated is my wireless card and Bluetooth which I presume has nothing to do with my problem?

You said earlier you had a HPdv6700 laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

Notebooks typically are much harder to work with because they are so proprietary - so I generally prefer it when I can physically get my hands on them myself, rather than via forums.

I have to go back to my first post here, when I asked if it has ever worked right since upgrading from Vista 32-bit to Win 7 64-bit? 64-bit may be your problem. When running 64-bit operating systems, you must use 64-bit drivers.
It might be best to take it to a shop.
