Photoshop does indeed love amount and bandwith. (Outside of memory benchmarks, that's one of the few 'real world' apps you should notice a difference on )

Anyway, as to not completely de-rail the thread (says Captain Derailer ) - still happily humming along at 4.6ghz. So far this has been my best rig yet, gremlin wise. I'm starting to suspect my HX-1000 was a little dodgy all along. But that's going to be my sisters problem now

I 'almost' (but not really) miss BSOD's...

1366 is still a damn powerhouse - Those on 775 are really only starting to notice the limitations now. You've got plenty of miles left in yours

The main reason I went with SB was because of the impulse buy of my Lian Li case (and I needed a distraction at the time). I was going to do an X79 build but realised 'mainstream' is enough for me these days. I'm in no rush to go back to dual/multi card setups and I'm over being 'ahead' by being an early adopter.

(I even toyed with idea of a Bulldozer build - then it was released... )

I just hit the tpu switch on my mobo and it oc'd mine to 4.3 at 100% load my temps don't go past 62. Are those good temps? I'm on a simple hyper 212. I'm not like a pro at oc'ing, I remembered my board had a switch and I flipped it lol. I ran prime 95 for like 2 hours I think and it was looking good. I got a bsod but that was totally my fault. Ima run it longer when I get some time, but from what I saw it was going good

Temps are perfectly fine, but I'd definitely check what all the voltages are being set too. Asus boards like to overvolt.

Yeah I heard about that. I didn't even check, gaahh. My eyes were on the temps and I was putting stuff into my lexa s. Ill check and see next time I boot up

Lol I was overclocking a computer of a friend and look xd: it ran stable temps where ok any higher than that BSOD's the Pc

This overclock is on air !

Yeah.... Intel only recommends a voltage between 0.800 - 1.375. You're pushing 1.54volts! Wow...... - Intel® Core

You sure about those temps?


@ smarteye, yeah I'm happy with my system and you're right it has a lot left. Anyway If I had a better after market CPU cooler I'd push for the 4gig range but the cooler I have now isn't up to the task.

And to be honest I was very near getting a SB system myself but in the end couldn't justify replacing the i7-950 system.

Id back off on that voltage or youll find what used to be a easy 24/7 OC can no longer be sustained with the voltages it once did.
Youll end up needing more.

Worst case scenario, default clocks/voltages may need a voltage increase to be stable.

No, you don't have to be crazy to overclock, but it helps a lot.
