So pretty system savvy and tried the instructions from the link above.

Starting a command shell as admin drops me to system32 and ran instructions from there

Everything went smooth in the command shell but got same error launching WMP

For fun I tried substituting wmp.dll with wmploc.dll, no help

Further yearning for more exasperating fun tried cd to ../SysWOW64 where wmploc.dll lives, no joy

Any other ideas ? Can I provide more infos ?

UPDATE

Tried method 2 from link above, i.e., Resource Hacker

Made changes, compile script, reboot ... no joy. version infos reverted ...

Okay, got it to work with combo of instructions form link above.

Was wanting to use Tavaris and got that to work only to find out its text was the same color (black) as the background so that ain't gonna work !

Tried a few others, VS Se7en, Concept, et. but all those had different erro, "WMP not installed correctly would like to reinstall?"

So, I give up. Too hard to satisfy me, maybe just use VLC and Winamp I suppose.
