Solved Power button stuck

I have this case:

Thermaltake VN770M1W2N Overseer RX-I Full Tower Black Computer Case - with ATX 700W PSU, Full Tower, 3 x 5.25 Bays, 5 x 3.5 Bays, 8 x Expansion Slots, 2 x USB 3.0, 2x Blue LED Fans at TigerDirect.com

I just shut down the computer to clean the keyboard.

Upon trying to power on - nothing.

I tried unplugging and replugging and checked the wires leading to the switch.

It finally powered on, but what must I check to prevent this in the future?

The switch could be bad, but you can check real easy (with PC off to start please):

1. Remove the PWR_SW lead from the case to the motherboard, then put it back, and test.
Sometimes just a loose connection.

2. Remove the PWR_SW lead from the case to the motherboard, leave it off. Then use a small flat head screwdriver to momentarily touch the two leads on the motherboard together. The PC should turn on.
If it does then you can be pretty sure the switch in the case is bad.

If you have a bad switch, and while you are waiting for a new one, you can cut the wires right at the switch and just touch them together briefly to turn the PC on - temporarily of course.

Do those switches come with instructions?

I Googled, but all it shows is the switch.

Can't be too complicated, but I thought I would ask.

Make sure you connect it to the correct two pins on the MB header. Some may not be an exact replacement for the button in your computer case. In my one instance, I had to mount it with tape on the side of the case thru a small hole.

I just spoke to Thermaltake and they are going to send me the whole panel - still under warranty.

Did you test it to determine if the switch is actually bad?

I didn't, but I told Thermaltake that the computer had no problem powering on after Sleep, and he told me the switch was bad.

I thought that was an easier solution, since I'll be getting a new part.

I guess I should have tested the switch first, but I thought I might cause myself a bigger headache if I couldn't power back on.

Panel came today - Thermaltake said it takes 30 seconds to install - WRONG!

Only took 3 seconds and the problem is immediately solved!
