ello all.
no problems ere just curious. i just updated the driver for my msi r6950 pe. this is the first time ive had the power control slider visible in ccc. it never showed with my hd6850 and didnt show in any of the previous drivers for my 6950.
Q what does this slider actually adjust? does it supply more voltage to the card
thanks in advance any help is always much apreciated
Its actually been there for a few Catalyst versions. Don't remember which it was exactly but somewhere around the Cat 11.5 or so. It is sort of a one stop kind of thing as most of the settings in it are the same/linked to the ones in the Windows power options. The slider from what I can see is the same as the max and min power states in Windows power options, where you can manually set it depending on use. Personally Cool and quiet does the same thing automatically and very erll, that a manual adjustment is basically useless.
That all said you can disable it and not see it in CCC (or VCCC on a full AMD platform) by disabling both the Fuel and AOD services.
Actually it is VECC (typo or braincramp) which stands for Vision Engine Control Center. Same as CCC, but has the above mention CPU Power options and only shows up on full AMD platforms (CPU/chipset/GPU). It is still caled CCC on Intel systems with AMD cards.
