thanks everybody for you input.

- hardware, it was a mistake to buy unknown but i liked the reviews and comments ive read around the web and thought it'd be the next step from what i had.

i have one last question.

what does this mean?

CPU 1.323v
CPU/NB 1.158v
cpu/vdda 2.527v
dram 1.574v
HT 1.217v
NB 1.118v
SB 1.111v
3.3V 3.312v
5V 5.059v
12V 12.158v

is 12v the limit and 12.158 means im exceeding the limit resulting in the psu degrading sooner rather than later?

No, the ATX spec has a range of acceptable voltage for the 12V and it is between 11.4 and 12.6V. Plus, what is measuring the 12V may have some variation as well.
thank you ;-)

soo, change of topic, those who are not bored with my constant questioning.

could you list a few top psu brands.

Fumz, I think your intentions are good, but really I don't think we need thread police here telling us how we should post.

If I'd buy a new PSU then I'd choose in this order:

1) Enermax

2) Seasonic

3) Antec

First two actually make their own PSU's rather than rebadging.

In general for gaming it is better to have fewer rails and higher current - depending on how far you plan to go.

Almost as funny a name as Zippy.

I still wouldn't buy anything from superflower or kingwin anyway.
That doesn't change the fact that it's a top rated PSU. Nothing wrong with giving the OP more options than just nameless Antecs and Enermaxes...

One tiny 550w model - and then look at Antec and Enermax. They mostly make up the first two tiers.

Perhaps you'd better look again? Official XS Power Supply Ranking Phase I - XtremeSystems Forums

There exists no Tier 1 Enermax. There are 2 Antecs out of 12 listings; however, the entire NZXT series, the entire Seasonic X series, the entire Corsair AX series, the entire Lepa G series, etc etc etc...

Basically put, everyone but Antec has their whole series in Tier 1. 2 power supplies out of dozens doesn't "mostly make up" anything.

Enermax and Antec do put out several Tier 2's though, I'll readily cede the point... :sarc:
