Hello, i 've been having problems with the power options at my desktop lately.
My OS is: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. So the advanced power changes i make keep resetting on shutdown (also on log off, wakeup etc.). I have tried creating a custom power plan and changing the existing ones but it keeps happening...
Specifically, i set the display to turn off after 30 minutes, the hard drive to power off after 10 minutes, not to require a password on wakeup, never to sleep, power saving mode for wireless adapter setting on maximum power saving and link state power management for pci express on off.
After restarting (logging in, waking up etc.), all settings are the same except turn off the display and power off the hard drive which are set on 3 minutes both.
Hope anyone can help because after a search on google there are many people experiencing the same problem but none of them has found any solution.
Thanks for your help in advance!

You could do a system restore using a restore point (if available) dated before this started to hopefully fix it.

As a test, create yourself a new user account, log on to it, and see if you have the same issue in it.

Ok seems i found the solution to the problem. I had activated Dynamic Energy Saver (an application of my GIGABYTE mobo) and the settings of this app reseted the power options of windows. I just had to change the settings of DES to turn off display after 30 mins and power off the hdds after 15 mins.

Thanks for your help Shawn, and to anyone else that has the same problem as me i hope this post helps you solve it!!

I have been trying to make win 7 64 bit REMEMBER the power settings. Nothing worked. I read here that a solution was discovered using Gogabyte. I tried to download it and my NORTON alerted me there was a virus in them. One of the downloads had WS.Repuatation.1 in it. Not sure what virus's the others had because I did not look at what they are. THANK GOD FOR NORTON ANTI-VIRUS!!! Between that and MALWAREBYTES my computer is safe from crap like this!! Guess I won't be using anything from them. Sad really..... So I'm still looking for the power saver fix....... Good luck to all using gigabyte.................
BTW, NORTON can be found at e b a y for around $30 bucks. Good for one year, and good for 3 computers. FACTORY SEALED with product key and legit!! Just make sure you get the latest version! Or get at the computer store for $50 to $70. Malwarebytes is free online but you need to run the program to catch stull that already is in your computer. Get the paid version and it stops the bad stuff IMMEDIATELY as it tries to get in your computer. Between both these programs, you need nothing else!!! I have been using these for MANY years and never had an issue!!!!!!
