Power Setting Desktop PC Performance or Balamced

Just wondered what is best ..... Power on High Performance or Balanced?

What do you do & why ?

My PC, which is used as a HTPC, using 2 Hauppauge 2250 cards, sometimes recording 4 HD transport streams at once, doesn't hiccup, running on balanced power.

Many modern motherboards use power phasing.
I really don't know what's controlling the power, though, the OS or the motherboard.
When I've set it to High Performance in the past, I didn't notice a difference.
