I've customized my power setting so that the monitor is set to turn off after 25 min of inactivity. It was working for a several days but just last week, I noticed that my monitor was not turning off as expected. When I looked in the power setting, the "Turn off the display" was set to NEVER.

I changed it back to 25 min; it worked for a few days....but somehow it keeps reverting back to the NEVER. I should add that I have all the OS updates installed and I am the only user on this computer. Does anyone know of a fix for this?

Win7 Pro 64-bit.

Have you made a new power setting or just changed one of the default ones?

I don't know how much it would help, but try making a new power plan and set it up from scratch.

It was one of the default ones that I changed. I'll create a new one and see if it helps.

Back in the WinXP days, I had this exact same problem and there was a registry "tweak" you could make. I found the solution purely by chance when I was looking through one of the registry keys one day. The registry has changed quite a bit in Win7!
