Power Up notebook when lid closed

Hi,

I wanted to have an external remote power button on my netbook, therefore I opened it and managed to put 2 wires from the button inside. The external button works, but one big problem remains:
I cannot power UP the netbook when the lid is closed, even if I press the external remote power button?

Instead, when lid is opened, the remote button works perfectly!

Does anyone has any idea how to fix this?

Well, first of all, make sure that the laptop is outputting to your external screen. Then, if you don't want the laptop to sleep when the lid is closed, go to Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options\System Settings and change the 'When I close the lid:' (Battery and Plugged in if you want) to Do Nothing.

I have done that. The problem is when lid is closed and the notebook is OFF, I can NOT use the external power button to power it up.

Sorry for not explaining the idea before.
I want to not touch at all the netbook. That's is why I installed an external power button, to power up/down "remotely". I don't want to open/close the lid at all.

He's trying to eliminate the need to open the lid in order to power it up. I'm not sure how to do it with his particular laptop. I have a laptop with a dock that has an external power switch so I never need to open the lid of my laptop while it's docked.

OP - Is there a dock available for your laptop?

Dock is not good, since I want also to minimize the use of hardware, therefore I use small netbook (as simple as possible).

It seems that's not possible to do the way I want.

That was the determination in the other thread you posted in, concerning the same topic. If you want an HTPC, go that route with a small ITX case and system, using the TV as the monitor. A netbook wasn't designed for this, and unless you'd rather just keep it running all the time, there isn't going to be a way around this.
