I bought my PC in November (Toshiba Qosmio - i7, x64 with windows 7) and visited Microsoft's website recently to check to see that my PC was up to date. Microsoft recommended 28 download improvements, of which 16 were incompatible!

Now my PC keeps crashing regularly with the above blue screen message.

In the middle of updating from itunes, my PC crashed again and now BBC iplayer no longer works, itunes has completely failed and my Windows Installer Service tells me it cannot be accessed! I can't uninstall itunes or BBC iplayer to reinstall and repair it!

This is becoming more frustrating since when I went back to Microsoft to tell them the problem they advised me that they want payment to repair the problem!

I am not an IT expert in any shape or form, but surely there must be a way of sorting this..easily. Tried many things and even downloaded 'Microsoft Fix it'...which unsurprisingly won't install and encounters an unexpected error Code 16977921--2147221164.

Need help please!

Using restore points, can you restore your computer to just before you installed the updates? That is the quickest fix if it will work.

Always, always try to get your hardware/driver updates from the manufacturer before resorting to MS. Then install one update at a time and work with your system to make sure all is well before installing another update.

You need to zip those files and attach them to your post. That way the guys and gals who understand those files can look at them and make sense of them.

Hi CarlTR6,

Sorry for delay, just got back. Tried to zip files and upload, but it keeps saying 'Access denied'. Tried zipping in Administrator, but PC will not let me.

As I said, I'm no I.T expert!

Please help!

You just bought the laptop in November - have you tried contacting the manufacturer instead of Microsoft for this?

Right click, copy, paste to desk top.
See if that works. The way I think you are doing it
windows may think you are trying to compress in place.

I wonder if your card reader drivers are the issue here. Update them, or uninstall them and see what happens.

Thanks for looking into my PC problem.

I re installed the Card reader and run my PC for a few weeks to see if the problem re appears (Hence the delay in getting back).

Had no problems and the blue screen no longer appears!

Thanks for the advice, it was really appreciated.

All seems well, except I think at some point my installer crashed during a power_driver_state_failure. Noticed my itunes is not opening and the latest flash plug will not load...says 'windows installer could not be accessed...windows installer is not correctly installed'.

Windows 7 is becoming a bit of a nightmare! help..please..anyone!
