I know this isn't really to do with windows 7 but since people of sevenforums are great at problems I'm just wanted to know I play gaming on ps3, and when i try to connect to my router in PPPoe (Point to Point over Ethernet) it won't connect. Username and password is correct and ISP said so thereself.
Sorry you mis understood. The internet is working perfect wired and wireless. But i want to connect using PPPoE through my ps3 which has the option on it to do so but it won't connect, it just keeps failing.
You are already connecting thru PPoE thru your modem or modem/router which has the PPoE settings the only time you would need to authenticate like that if the settings were not in your modem/router and authentication would then have to be done from a workstation.
Doing it from the ps3 will always fail as authetication has already been done and no point to it.
It could be done if the PPoE settings were not in the modem or router but it is an old way of doing things authenticating from a workstation and less secure but there is no point as it is more secure to do from a router or modem at the gateway.
Not neccessarily to do with NAT as your isp may see the second PPoE attempt and drop it as it would be classed as a second internet connection.
That is why most wireless routers and access points have PPoE authentication as an option so you can enter the details username and password and service name if required(not usual practice now) and then the software can be uninstalled from the workstation.
Please mark the thread as solved if that has answered your query thank you and you are welcome.
